Quality of Life of the Population as the Integrated Sociological, Economic and Healthcare Index (On the Sample of the Sakha Republic, Yakutia)

Abstract

The paper is devoted to the analysis of indicators of quality of life on the sample of municipalities of the largest subject of the Russian Federation - the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and represents results of the complex scientific expedition aimed at studying the components and factors of the quality of life of the population. The subjects of the study were residents of three districts of the Eastern Economic Zone (EES) of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) - Oymyakonsky, Tomponsky and Ust-Maysky (250 respondents in total). The research question was the specifics of sociological and healthcare aspects, and social and economic indicators of quality of life of the residents of East Economic Zone districts. Scientific novelty of research consists in the comparative analysis of quality of life of the population of one of the richest gold-bearing resource regions of the Sakha Republic conducted with utilization of a triangulation methods, such as representative opinion poll; interviewing by means of the standardized questionnaire of Short Form Medical Outcomes Study (SF-36); statistical monitoring of indicators for the past 30 years; and the statistical data analysis (of correlation and dispersive types). The income structure of the population of the object of research, level of financial welfare and a state of property, distribution of monetary incomes on the basis of occupational and stratification criteria per inhabitant of the municipalities are analyzed; indices of public happiness for each of social groups separately and the standardized indicators of respondents quality of life are calculated for all scales of SF-36 questionnaire. The results draw a conclusion that there is a close correlation between the “income levels” and “state of health” variables, the interrelation between education level and a physical condition of the respondents is shown; along with the statement that nature of public happiness is affective and emotional component of the quality of life of the population.
