Areas of Forensic Methodology Development in Ukraine

Abstract

This paper presents analysis of the concepts, content, tasks, and areas of forensic methodology development as a section of forensic science and practical activities related to investigation of crimes. A four-level classification of forensic crime investigation methods is given based on its division into specific, intraspecific, interspecific (complex) and extra specific. Criminal (legal) features of crimes or ones with special forensic significance are the criteria used to formulate the forensic methods of investigation. Consideration of the above mentioned significant features in the process of forensic methods development for investigation of certain crime types expands the content of its forensic characteristics, creates preconditions for application of effective investigative methods, tools and techniques, boosts the effectiveness of law enforcement with special attention paid to its specifics. Emphasis was placed on the need to develop a forensic methodology to investigate crimes of international significance - Ukraine and global community constantly take all possible efforts to counter this dangerous phenomenon. The need to establish certain methodology for ng financial crimes investigation is also outlined with its basic principles defined.
