Abstract

While designing any structural building, the only concern of the designer is the stability of the structure and its behaviour under internal and external forces. These forces mainly comprise of dead load of the building, superimposed load, snow load, or some other loads due to excitation such as earthquake, wind etc. In this paper, effects of earthquake on G+26 building in zone 2 has been studied. Methodologies and guidelines of IS 1893:2016 are used to analyse and design the building. Etabs 2016 is used to analyse the building under the effect of seismic forces in different zones of India and also the variation of column forces is studied by changing the configuration of building in zone 2. The seismic analysis was done by linear equivalent static method. The behaviour of building was examined and compared on the basis of joint displacement, column forces and base shear.
