Semantic Web Application in E-learning Using Protege based on Information Retrieval

Abstract

This paper provides theoretical support for the building of e-learning course system, and the technical guidance for the design of e-learning course system. Irrelevant search by using WWW is avoided by Semantic web in elearning which provide an efficient, adaptive and personalized learning environment. In this paper construction of Computer Science Courses (CSC) based ontology with OWL files using protégé 5.5.0, where a hierarchy of classes, subclasses has been defined along with the data and object properties, relations and instances. Finally information retrieval done with ontology based query refinement process includes SPARQL and DL query implementation.
