Michael Halliday has developed the model of Systemic Functional Grammar which deals with the usage of language from Functional Perspective. Transitivity is a vital tool used in SFL. It helps in Discourse Analysis. Language being functional through its systemic quality is a significant tool of infusing different ideologies among the masses. Feminism is a literary and social movement for the attainment of gender equality and breaking the shackles of pseudo gender roles made by society. This paper is helpful in analyzing text on the basis of Transitivity which further propagates Feminism. Halliday‟s transitivity model has been used to interpret certain Process and Circumstance types which are embodied in Kate Chopin‟s “The Story of an Hourâ€. Process types used in the text are material, mental, relational, verbal, behavioral and existential. Moreover, circumstance types used in text are location, manner, extent, accompaniment and role while contingency, matter and cause are ruled out.
