Elucidate Determinant Factors of Work Stress and Employee Performance: A Significant Managerial Issue

Abstract

This research aims to verify the significance of work procrastination, self-efficacy, and emotional intelligence to performance of employees at work under the influence of stress. This study involved 115 respondents in which each one was employees in Badung Regency Social Service Office and Denpasar City Social Service Office. Data collected by this research were later analyzed utilizing analysis technique Structural Equation Modelling as well as the AMOS version 22 program. Results indicated that (1) Work Procrastination had a positive influence and was proven significant to stress at work faced by the employees; (2) Work Procrastination had a negative influence and was proven significant to the employee performance; (3) Self- Efficacy had a negative influence and was proven significant to work stress faced by the employees; (4) Self- Efficacy had a positive influence and was proven significant to employee performance; (5) Emotional Intelligence had a negative influence and was proven significant to work stress faced by the employees; (6) Emotional Intelligence had a positive influence and was proven significant to the employee performance;(7) Work Stress had a negative influence and was proven significant to the employee performance. It appears that work stress is a good mediator on the effect of work procrastination, self-efficacy, and emotional intelligence to employee performance
