Monitoring and Evaluation of the Performance of Siak Watershed in Riau Province of Indonesia

In the perspective of spatial planning, there is a relationship between spatial development and watersheds (DAS). The increase in population along the Siak watershed is relatively fast, this will have an impact on land use change, so that less land is not developed that functions as a groundwater storage area. The purpose of this study was to conduct a study of the Siak Watershed Performance of the Riau Province of Indonesia, with the aim of the research identifying the Ecological, Socio-Economic Conditions in the Siak Watershed area. The research method used is a combined method (mix method) between quantitative and qualitative, while the Ecological, Social Economic Performance Analysis is carried out using Ministry of Forestry Regulation No. P.61 / Menhut-II / 2014 concerning Monitoring and Evaluation of Watershed Management. The study was conducted in the Siak watershed which included Rokan Hulu Regency, Kampar Regency, Bengkalis Regency, Siak Regency, and Pekanbaru City. The results of the evaluation of the carrying capacity of the Siak watershed evaluation value of 100.50, if referring to Permenhut No. P.61/Menhut-II/2014 included in the medium category. The carrying capacity of the Siak watershed is influenced by several factors including land factors. The percentage of critical land in the Siak watershed has a large score, included in the high criteria, as well as the erosion index which is considered very high. In addition to land conditions, the condition of the water system also has a significant influence such as sediment load and floods, which are included in the very high criteria.
