This study examines and compares the negating of two well-known dialects of Arabic, namely the Dowsari dialect (DA) spoken in Wadi Addawasir in the central part of Saudi Arabia, and the Taizzi dialect (TA), spoken in the south-western part of Yemen. Though the study uses Yemeni Arabic two major dialects, i.e., Taizzi Arabic (TA) and Sana‟ani Arabi (SA). It aims to provide sufficient evidence that supports the fact that a negative element in Arabic is not a phrase within the TP verbal complex, rather an independent phrase all together in a higher position to the TP. For this, the study surveyed the inventory of negation elements and provided a unified schema that covers all NegP positions cross-dialects of Arabic. The focus of this study is on the position of the NEG in these two dialects. It discusses the morpho-syntax of Arabic negations, NEG distribution, use of enclitic [-š] as a secondary negative element and more. The findings help understand the negating elements, which is essential and fundamental component of the language system.
