This article analyzes the changes in the Maâ€had Al-Zaytun movement and the changes in behavior of its leader, Abdus Salam (A.S.) Panji Gumilang. A historical research approach is used, including several procedures such as: heuristic, critic, interpretation, and historiography, alongside with social psychology theory, particularly Longres‟ theory on behavior changes to explain the changes in behavior of the leader of Maâ€had Al-Zaytun. The results show that the Maâ€had Al-Zaytun movement has changed from the Romanticism of the Islamic State of Indonesia in 1999 to the Unification of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) in 2008. The change lies in the form of movement, vision-mission, and ideas.
