This article examines the legislative aspects of the legal regulation of distance learning on the example of Azerbaijan. The features, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning are analyzed. The article shows why it is necessary to introduce distance learning in the modern world at all levels of education (not only in universities and colleges, but also in schools). The example of the Azerbaijani legislation in the field of legal regulation of distance learning shows the extent to which the legal framework regulating distance learning in the Republic of Azerbaijan has been developed
