Blockchain Technology in Supply Chain Management

Priyanka Bairagi and Manjulata Bhoi
Abstract

The integration of blockchain technology into supply chain management represents a paradigm shift towards transparency, traceability, and trust in logistics and commerce. As global trade becomes increasingly complex and vulnerable to fraud, inefficiencies, and opacity, the decentralized and immutable nature of blockchain offers a compelling alternative to traditional record-keeping systems. This paper explores the foundational principles of blockchain technology and critically examines its application within supply chains. Drawing upon authoritative academic resources such as "Blockchain Basics" by Daniel Drescher and "Supply Chain Management" by Sunil Chopra, this study assesses blockchain’s role in enhancing data integrity, automating contract execution via smart contracts, and fostering collaborative trust among stakeholders. The analysis also addresses limitations in scalability, interoperability, and regulatory concerns, thereby presenting a holistic view of blockchain's potential to revolutionize global logistics infrastructure.
