Computers as the Backbone of Digital Forensics Unravelling Cybercrime Investigations

Vikrant Sahu and Debarghya Biswas
Abstract

Digital forensics is the process of identifying, preserving, analysing, and presenting digital evidence. Computers help with data recovery, forensic analysis, and cybercrime investigations in digital forensics. As cyber threats become more prevalent, computer forensics are heavily relied upon for forensic investigations. Computers have become essential tools in forensic investigation, from the acquisition and preservation of digital evidence to the analysis of complex data structures. They also use sophisticated software and hardware to access software that eradicates, encrypts, or damages all data, making sure all evidence is admissible in court in a legal case. Moreover, computer-based forensic techniques help law enforcement agencies fight cybercrimes like fraud, hacking, and identity theft. In this article, we discuss the perspectives of the computers in the digital forensics, forensic tools, methods, challenges, and future direction. It illustrates the relevance of digital forensic investigation in the fields of justice system and cybersecurity by predicting how crime on computer can solve cybercrime, with higher efficiency and assist in mitigation and legal enforcement. This paper presents the design, methodology, and conceptual frameworks behind the EMS, which is aimed at shaking up workforce management for a digital age.
