Textural Image Segmentation Framework based on Edge Preserving Bilateral Filter

C. Padmavathi, Dr. D. Regan
Abstract

An image consists of two basic frequency components in accordance with its pixel spatial value variations. The higher variation in the spatial value of pixel tends to high frequency. i.e. the textural component of the image. Images having textural component considered to be having noise components because of high frequency nature. This research work proposes the framework for segmenting the noisy textural images using the bilateral filter with k-means segmentation algorithm. In this work, we present the implementation with the Gaussian noise added to the image, this noisy image is bilateral filtered then k-means segmentation is performed to have segmented image. Performance of the proposed system is conducted with median filter and Gaussian filter.
