Abstract

IEEE 802.11e is a protocol aimed to provide QoS for real-time applications like video. Video consists of I-frames, P-frames and B-frames. In general, all the frames are treated equally. This paper proposes a scheme to improve the QoS of video flow in 802.11e for video conferencing application. This scheme considers that I and P frames are more important than B frames. Since B frames incur some intrinsic delay they are avoided if the synchronization of the video frames is greater than 20 microseconds. The simulations are conducted by using NS2.35. The results show that 81% of I and P frames are delivered and Low Packet Loss Ratio is noticed for all types of frames.
