Abstract

Reliability of diesel cars largely depends on the degree of cleanliness of the applied fuel. The work is aimed at a comprehensive enhancement of cleanliness of the fuel used in fuel systems through the process of multi-stage filtration. Experimentally verified mathematical modeling enabled to develop the methods for choosing a combination of fuel filters of the newly created structures using porous foam polyurethanes, working together with paper filters. A 1.7-2-fold increase in service life of removable precision parts of fuel equipment is achieved at the least cost. A methodology is suggested for calculation assessment of the required quality of fuel cleanup using fine mesh filters, which minimizes expenses for removable parts of fuel equipment and fuel filters. The suggested use of multi-stage cleanup of diesel fuel through filtration in the fuel systems of cars by means of the newly created filters allows to substantially reduce the costs for operation of fuel systems of cars with diesel engines, and to design more efficient innovative filters.
